The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) is an innovation and technology association united in fueling Minnesota’s prosperity. We help bring together the people of Minnesota’s technology ecosystem and lead the charge in directing technology issues to Minnesota’s state capitol and the local affiliate for our global partner, TECNA. MHTA is home to MN-SBIR and Scitechsperience, both programs are important to the small business community.

MN-SBIR is the State’s resource that assists seed, early stage, emerging and existing firms to successfully access non-dilutive federal research and development funding (grants and contracts) in the federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs. From innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization, MN-SBIR provides free, confidential assistance to seed, early stage, emerging and existing firms to access non-dilutive funding through the federal (SBIR/STTR) programs. MN-SBIR is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, University of Minnesota, Office for Technology Commercialization and MHTA.

SciTechsperience is the internship program that connects college students studying science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines to paid internships in small to mid-sized Minnesota companies. SciTechsperience provides a wage match to cover 50% of the intern’s wages (worth up to $2,500).
